With Motherwell's last warm up game now done and dusted, attention can be focussed on the start of the season. While we have had a fairly low key build-up, how has everyone else been doing?

Motherwell and Preston North End played out the third pre-season game in a week at Fir Park on Wednesday. A goal apiece in the second half produced a fair result.

Compo for Rossco	Mon 28 Jul
Motherwell have received £120,000 in compensation for the loss of Ross McCormack. The quick agreement with Cardiff City means that there is no need for a tribunal to set a fee for the loss of the young striker.

Easy win for Motherwell in the claret and amber clash	Sat 26 Jul
Motherwell cruised to their first pre-season win with a convincing 4-0 victory over Bradford.

Claret and Amber Festival	Fri 25 Jul
Saturday's meeting between Motherwell and Bradford City will be the first clash of the UK's claret and amber teams in almost thirty years. This game will be the second of our three match run of home warm-ups.

Uefa Cup: The first draw	Tue 01 Jul
The draw for the first qualifying round of the 2008/9 Uefa Cup has been made. The teams involved at this stage in the competition will have to get through two rounds to reach the same pot at Motherwell for the ballot in late August.

$etanta and $PL extend contract	Mon 30 Jun
An agreement has been reached between the SPL and Setanta to extend the contract for TV coverage of our games. The current deal expires at the end of this season. $etanta now have the rights for another four years.

Motherwell fans will not be surprised to learn that Ross McCormack has a new club. Cardif City won his signature and he'll be appearing in the Championship this season.

Motherwell will begin the the 2008/9 season at Tynecastle. Mark McGhee will visit the club he turned down on August 9. This is a very tricky start but what a chance it gives us to put one over our potential European rivals.

The SPL fixture list for the new season is scheduled to appear on Monday 16 June. Mark McGhee can then start planning for his second season at the Fir Park helm. Can he improve on his first year in charge?

McCart leaves Motherwell	Fri 06 Jun
Chris McCart has left Motherwell to take charge of the Celtic Youth Academy. Chris has made a huge contribution to Motherwell over many years and he'll leave with the best wishes of all Well fans.

Today's report that Motherwell have turned down a bid for Mark Reynolds from Rangers will be welcomed by Motherwell fans. At the same time it reminds us that there is an ever present threat to our hopes of building a team which can deliver success rather than survival.
