Wednesday, 21st May 2008:

Preview: Hibs (a)

Wed 21 May
The season draws to a close on Thursday night when we travel to Easter Road to take on Hibs. Normally a trip to the capital would give us reason for concern but on this evening it will be time to put our feet up and enjoy the entertainment!

Gretna redundancies stir memories

Mon 19 May
The news of forty redundancies at Gretna will strike a chord with everyone who remembers the dark days of 2002 at Fir Park.

A Test of Nerve

Mon 19 May
We can't break the bank but this is the time to take a calculated gamble. We've bought quality this season in Hughes, Malcolm, Porter, Lappin and Hammell. The trade off is that we carry a small squad but 15 good players are more likely to succeed than 20 average ones and so it proved this year.

Rangers: 24h on

Sun 18 May
The contrast between the atmosphere at Saturday's game and the penultimate game of last season is a testament to the work of Mark McGhee. The welcome improvement will be as apparent to John Boyle as to the fans and he is now faced with a tough decision.

We did it for Phil

Sat 17 May
There were wonderful scenes at Fir Park after Saturday's match was over. The away support had trudged out of the stadium leaving the Motherwell fans in the packed east and main stands eager to show their appreciation to the players and the manager.

First indications of Motherwell's July friendlies

Thu 15 May
Although season 2007/8 has not yet ended plans for the start of next season are already being made. News from south of the border suggests that visits from Wolves and Coventry are likely to figure in our pre-season preparations.

The Mighty 'Well are Europe bound

Sun 11 May
Motherwell are back in European competition for the first time since 1995/6. In a season full of highs and one terrible low we have managed to secure third place with two games to spare. What a wonderful achievement.

It is difficult to understate the importance of Saturday's game with Aberdeen. We have home advantage, every prospect of a decent crowd and the prospect of a huge reward for a win. It's time for every Well fan to give the team 100% support for the wonderful season they have delivered.

GLF 68 on sale on Saturday

Thu 08 May
Surely all 'Well fans in a position to head for Fir Park on Saturday will be enticed with the offer to enjoy their day out for the princely sum of six quid............

Rangers: 24h on

We knew that any points collected from last night's fixture would have been an unexpected bonus. The players can take heart from the first half performance and start to concentrate on the big game on Saturday.

Fir Park for a fiver

Wed 07 May
Motherwell have slashed entry prices for the game against Aberdeen this Saturday. A crisp fiver will get you a seat anywhere in the ground as the Mighty Well try to secure the three points which would lead to European football next season.

Preview: Rangers (a)

Tue 06 May
Remarkably, no matter how few points we manage to pick up from our own efforts, our position in the race for Europe just keeps on getting better and better. We now have a free role of the dice in this rearranged match at Ibrox but can we take advantage?

Celtic - 24h on (again)

Sun 04 May
Games are running out for our rivals in the race for third spot. We have retained our position despite taking only one point from the last couple of matches but we need to find a win this week.

The next stage of the European race arrives this Saturday when we take on Celtic at Fir Park. As we play before both Dundee United and Hibs we have a chance to boost our position but we will need to be at our best to stand a chance against an in-form team.

Quinn lets the side down

Tue 29 Apr
Paul Quinn's absence during the next few games will do nothing to help Motherwell achieve the prize of a third place finish in the SPL. Although he has our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery, fans are wondering what on earth was he doing in a Wishaw nightclub at 2.30am.

Dundee United: 24h on

Sat 26 Apr
Any disappointment Motherwell fans had after the team failed to dispose of Dundee United on Saturday lunchtime was softened when news of the remarkable happenings at Pittodrie came through later in the afternoon.

Dundee United' visit to Fir Park on Saturday will have a massive influence in Motherwell's hopes of achieving third place in the SPL table at the end of the season. This is a huge game for both teams and it should be a cracker.
