Motherwell News

Sunday, 7th February 2010:

Next up - Rangers

Sun 07 Feb
After a terrible match at the weekend we are now confirmed as top six challengers rather than relegation strugglers. Our next opponents are Rangers though and our own form has mattered little in the recent past as they have trampled us regardless.

Hamilton -24h on

Sun 07 Feb
The revival in Motherwell's hopes for the season since the turn of the year has been stunning. Our new manager has reversed the decline and given us hope for the rest of the campaign.

Team line-ups v Hamilton Academical

Sat 06 Feb
Confirmation of the starting eleven and substitutes named for this afternoon's fixture at home to Hamilton Academical.

Next up - Accies

Thu 04 Feb
The Craig Brown bandwagon is storming up the table at an impressive rate. Our new manager's achievements have been acknowledged but his next challenge is a tricky derby with our wee cousins who will be determined to end our good run.

Another derby day ahead

Wed 03 Feb
We have a Lanarkshire derby to entertain us at the weekend. Motherwell have had the upper hand in recent meetings but there is a long history between the clubs worthy of investigation.

Transfer day - Fir Park news

Mon 01 Feb
The transfer window in Scotland shuts at midnight on Monday. There has been some activity at Fir Park in the final hours with Paul Slane making his expected departure.

Aberdeen- 24h on

Sun 31 Jan
The long homeward journey from Aberdeen was shortened considerably by cheery talk of the convincing win. Not only had we put one over on an ex-manager but our unbeaten run continues.

Team line-ups v Aberdeen

Sat 30 Jan
Confirmation of the starting eleven and substitutes named for this afternoon's fixture away to Aberdeen.

Next up - a trip to Aberdeen

Thu 28 Jan
We managed to take a useful away point from Falkirk on Wednesday evening and we head on our travels again this weekend. Aberdeen is the latest destination but we will have to play well to return home with something.

Team line-ups v Falkirk

Wed 27 Jan
Confirmation of the starting eleven and substitutes named for the evening game away to Falkirk.

Next up- Falkirk

Tue 26 Jan
Anyone who wasted a couple of hours watching Falkirk-Dundee United on Sunday will now fully fancy our chances of making it three league wins in a row. The Bairns were woeful but we should know that all too often Motherwell have slipped up in this situation.

St Mirren - 24h on

Sun 24 Jan
The welcome win at Craig Brown's home debut will instil more confidence in our rejuvenated squad and ensure that the midweek trip to Falkirk can be undertaken with high expectation. Every at Fir Park will be smiling (except the treasurer!).

Team line-ups v St. Mirren

Sat 23 Jan
Confirmation of the starting eleven and substitutes named for today's early kick-off at home to St. Mirren.

Is McGlinchey Craig Brown's target?

Fri 22 Jan
The BBC is reporting that Motherwell have agreed to sign Michael McGlinchey - an attacking midfielder from world cup bound New Zealand.

St Mirren for Saturday lunch

Thu 21 Jan
After our woeful cup exit on Monday night, the players will no doubt be delighted to have a winnable game coming up this weekend. That the opposition is St Mirren is probably less pleasing given our recent record against the Paisley Buddies.

Saturday's game live and free on ESPN

Wed 20 Jan
Saturday's lunchtime game at Fir Park will be broadcast free by ESPN. The game will be available on all platforms as part of the channel's unencrypted weekend. What will this do to the match day attendance?

Inverness - a sad 24h on

Tue 19 Jan
Another in the long list of shocking exits joined the sad catalogue of Motherwell's Scottish Cup history at Inverness. It was the manner of the defeat that rankles. We were a poor, uninspired and uncommitted side and all that's left is to wish ICT well in future rounds.

Team line-ups v Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Mon 18 Jan
Confirmation of the starting eleven and substitutes named for the evening game away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Inverness v Motherwell - GAME ON

Mon 18 Jan
Tonight's Scottish Cup tie got the go ahead following a morning inspection at the Caledonian Stadium. Motherwell fans can start the long trek northwards as the team look for the second win in three days.

The Cup campaign starts at last!

Sun 17 Jan
Not only have we resumed playing football after the enforced winter break, we even started back with a win! After five losses on the trot that was much needed and now we look to continue our momentum with a cup trip to the Highlands.

Kilmarnock - 24h on

Sun 17 Jan
It was great to see us collect three points in Kilmarnock. With any luck it will be the start of a recovery following the disappointments in November and December.

Team line-ups v Kilmarnock

Sat 16 Jan
Confirmation of the starting eleven and substitutes named for this afternoon's fixture away to Kilmarnock.

Two old hands debut at Rugby Park?

Wed 13 Jan
After an enforced winter break of a couple of weeks, we may have the chance to get back to playing football at Kilmarnock on Saturday. Will their pitch and surrounding area be suitable for use? And how will Craig Brown fair for his first real game in charge?

Motherwell manager - new blood needed?

Wed 13 Jan
Motherwell's search for a new manager has not featured much in the current batch of football rumours. Given the swift appearance of the interim duo the club has bought time and is able to take a considered approach to the next appointment. What do we want in the new man?

Inverness v Motherwell postponed again

Mon 11 Jan
Tuesday's rearranged fourth round cup game at Inverness has been postponed. A 10am inspection concluded that the pitch was frozen. The next attempt will be on Monday 18th January.
