DIDN'T WE HAVE A LOVELY TIME THE DAY WE WENTTO BARROWFIELD?

Reserve matches never attracted huge crowds. Surely under-21 matches wouldn't be any more popular?

Myself and Frankie Stannage (most of you will probably recognise him from ASDA - the guy with the suntan that "talks" to all the females, and does sod all work!) went to watch the U-21 Motherwell -v- Celtic game at Barrowfield on 17th Feb. and I didn't think there would be many people watching.

When we arrived, the pitch was surrounded with about 500 Celtic fans - the reason being that Marco Viduka was playing his first game for Celtic. Apparently he scored, but all that I can remember, was him missing a Peter van Vossen style sitter!

We were 4-0 down at half-time, but Motherwell battled well and not long into the second-half we got a penalty which Dougie Ramsay converted. Soon after that Henri Bacque scored with a well placed header, and although it finished up 4-2, Motherwell played well and were cheered off by a huge Motherwell following - myself and Frankie!

During the game we scanned the crowds to see if we could find any other Motherwell fans, but it looked like we were the only Motherwell supporters sad enough to brave the elements in the East End of Glasgow.

It wasn't exactly a lovely day at Barrowfield, as it was pouring with rain and freezing cold, but despite all that, we were lucky enough to witness Henri Bacque scoring his first goal for Motherwell (even if it was U-21). For the first team he came on against Dundee at Dens Park, but didn't get much of a chance, and played against Partick Thistle in the friendly at Firhill, so hopefully he will get a few games before the end of the season.
