Is this the best best bit of business at Fir Park in 2009?

Cillian Sheridan?Scored a couple of goals but never really cut the mustard.Jim Gannon? So far so very good.Ross Forbes, Shaun Hutchison and Stevie Saunders on long-term deals? Here's to enjoying their progress for another season or two.John Ruddy?Isn't it great to have a commanding goalie.I'll tell you my most important deal of the year rapidly drawing to a close though - that lovely, luscious Fir Park pitch!!!

Pitch Perfect

It took long enough to finally achieve, but hasn't it been a pleasure to not have to flick between internet, teletext and text messages every time a bit of the wet stuff has precipitated down in fear of another weekend without our football fix!??I also don't think we would have seen players such as Moutouakil, Coke, O'Brien, Hateley, Forbes and Slane impress as much as they have had they been forced to play 'Spot The Ball' every time a pass hopped, skipped and jumped their way.

Jim Gannon has already proven that he has a very set football philosophy of pass and move and whilst I don't don't he wouldn't have wanted to change his very deliberate style, how much poorer would our start have been if he had been forced to debut on the atrocious surafce we called home last campaign??

John Boyle hasn't had his detractors to seek but he has put into action several initiatives to the betterment of Motherwell Football Club in recent times, including
the expensive replacing of our pitch. The vision to go for 'Jim Who?' instead of one of the " big names" in the frame to become McGhee's successor, and (no matter if through circumstances as much as pro-activeness) the return of the Cooper Stand to 'Well fans on Old Firm match days.

Here's hoping this is a step in the right direction both on and off the field for MFC with a new decade about to dawn!!

The Future's Bright......

Well done to all concerned for such a positive start to the season. We're sitting higher than most of us dare dream and are playing an entertaining style that has won many plaudits and rightly so.Hopefully as the players and management get more and more familiar with one another we can begin to turn a few more draws into victories to see us really push on and cement what has already been a memorable start to Jim Gannon's reign.Hopefully with some positive dealings in the transfer window, our young guns not burning out too quickly, and avoiding too many serious injuries to our regular starters we'll continue to prove better than most in the SPL for the months to come.

That's it for GLF for this year - we'll see you for our fourth decade in February - happy holidays!!!!!!
