Azzurri at Fir Park

The manager
Club secretary Stewart Robertson, gave the news to members of the Motherwell Supporters’ Trust at their AGM on Monday.

The club are delighted to be able to offer their facilities and hope that one or two of our squad have the opportunity of playing at their home ground wearing the dark blue of Scotland.

An U21 fixture had been planned at Fir Park over a year ago but the poor state of the pitch at that time caused a relocation to Firhill. A new pitch was laid last summer and the new surface is deemed suitable for the young internationalists.

The main Italian squad will also use the stadium as a training facility ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifier which takes place at Hampden on Saturday, September 3.

The thought of our players bumping into Marcello Lippi and company as they prepare for a training session is one to anticipate but it is bound to be an interesting week and many Well fans will turn out to see the U21 game on Friday 2 September.
