Within minutes of the announcement the debate started on the FPC messageboard. It might work out better. We'll probably have Faddy back, and neither of our OF wins have been on a Saturday. It's all taking shape”, said SCDave. “Terry Butcher has conspired with his pals at Rangers to try and create a fixture backlog for Celtic”, said (a slightly tongue in cheek) Kevwaldo.

Its seems that the hot air balloon was not in use last night and that the pitch had a simple cover. There is a possibility that the match would have gone ahead if the kick off had been scheduled for 3pm but who knows?

Whatever the reason, the financial penalty to the club of a late postponement is heavy. Catering costs, police and stewarding, possible loss of TV money (will Setanta cover the rearranged match?) and the general loss of goodwill will all take their toll.

‘Well fans now have to focus on Wednesday’s game against Dunfermline (rearranged because of a frozen pitch on 21 December). McFadden with miss out as he serves the last of his four match ban and Leitch and Lehmann will have had another few days to regain fitness. And next Saturday we have the awayday to Broadwood.
