Chievo - Big Crowd Needed

Last updated : 11 May 2002 By FirParkCorner
Serie A shock team Chievo-Verona will provide the opposition as the local population and general Scottish football fans are given the chance to show that they think 'Well are Worth Saving.

Chievo are playing their first season in the top flight of Italian football and they are having an astonishing year. They are currently sitting in the fourth and final Champions League place given to Italian teams but Lazio aren't far behind them. Even if they are caught by the Rome giants, a UEFA cup place will be a massive achievement.

The main reason Chievo will be in Scotland is to play a friendly against Dundee. However, Ivano Bonneti arranged their trip to Motherwell to help us out and Chievo themselves suggested the early date (they play us before Dundee) as that might generate a bigger crowd. Our thanks go both clubs.

Fill these seats!

Season tickets will obviously not be valid for the game, so the club are relying on the loyal fans being willing to dip into their pockets but given our current situation, that shouldn't be a problem. The prices haven't been confirmed yet but we believe they will be £10 adult, £5 concessions for anywhere in the ground. To see a top class footballing side (and some mob from Italy…) this is surely a bargain and will hopefully encourage a big crowd to turn out.

If you're a regular, a stay-away 'Well fan, a neutral or even a supporter of another club, you are more than welcome to come along. In fact, other fans that want to come along should wear their own strips - the gesture of solidarity will be appreciated.

While Motherwell don't appear to be in danger of going out of business, the fact remains that we are in administration. It is the duty of every single fan to do their bit - and that means turning out at Fir Park at every available opportunity.
