Motherwell announced the third close season signing as Danny Johnson, a 25 year old striker, signed a two year contract.
Johnson has been at Gateshead for the last two seasons where he scored 53 times in his 126 appearances. Before that he gained experience via Middlesborough, Hartlepool, Real Murcia and Cardiff.
We played at Gateshead in a pre-season friendly last July but Johnson missed the game with a foot injury. He shared a dressing room with Ryan Bowman for a season.
Nevertheless we can assume that both Martin Foyle and Stephen Robinson are convinced that the Englishman can make a serious contribution to our attack. His contract with Gateshead ends this month.
He will compete with Main, Bowman, Newell and Hastie for a place in the first team.
