Five to Go

Since the SPL grew to twelve teams our haul of forty eight last season was our biggest tally. Surely fifty points should be reachable this time around?

15 April Motherwell v Inverness

22 April Falkirk v Motherwell

29 April Motherwell v Dunfermline

Wed 3 May Livingston v Motherwell

6 May Motherwell v Dundee United

We could hardly have picked a better spread. Three at home were needed to give a balance of nineteen home and away over the season. As a bonus the two away games involve short trips to Falkirk and a Wednesday evening jaunt to Livingston. It could be that Livi will know that there future lies in the First Division by the second last game of the season.

The club coffers will suffer by missing out on visits from the bigger crowds which a top six finish would have ensured but at least there will be three home gates to keep the turnstiles ticking.

Six points from this handful are the least we should aim to collect.

The last game of the season will inevitably fail to match last year's for drama and excitement but at least we will be able to thank the team for their efforts in the traditional way!
