Motherwell face Spanish inquisition

Before the draw was made, the group system meant we had no chance of getting a true glamour tie with Sporting Lisbon possibly the biggest name available.  However, out of the other four options, Hapoel Tel Aviv or Sparta Prague may have offered us a minor chance of progressing but Levante will surely prove to be way too strong.  Though offering a nice trip in the sun for the away, they are hardly the biggest fish in the sea and are unlikely to pack a large crowd into Fir Park.

On the plus side, they are inexperienced at this level as this will be their first ever European tie.  Accordingly a friendly welcome will be expected in Valencia, though hopefully we are not such good hosts at Fir Park that the tie is completely over by then!

Levante have never won a major tournament in their history, though they do lay claim to a presitgious trophy won during the Spanish Civil War.  They finished sixth in the league last year to claim a European berth and boast several full internationals.  It is safe to say, our European tour will probably be ending shortly and we will soon be concentrating on domestic business once more!
