Motherwell Fans Gain a Shareholding

This milestone in the history of the club took place at Fir Park on Monday evening. Several former players attended (Griffin, Reid, Martis, Whiteford, Wark, Main, and Pettigrew) together with the shareholders.

The Trust received the shares in recognition of its efforts on behalf of the club and it was made clear that the club was grateful for the input and that there was a hope that the happy relationship would continue.

The allocation of 5400 shares (around two percent) was welcomed by the Trust who said that they were delighted at this initial shareholding. The Trust was established to increase fan involvement and the building of a block of shares is a core aim.

It was revealed that the management trio (Butcher, Malpas and McCart) have extended their contracts until May 2008. This excellent news will please the support and will ensure some continuity in future years.

The game against Falkirk will be a Maggies Day Fundraiser with entry reduced to £8 and £2. A special prize programme will be available together with other activities.

Fans are to have a say in the design of the next set of strips (home and away). A competition will be set up and a committee with fan representation will play a major part.

Here’s to the next hundred years!
