Next up - a trip to Falkirk

Last Updated : 01-Dec-2025 by John Wilson

Motherwell last visited Falkirk in 2010.  We will return on Wednesday.

This will be a clash between two teams in good form.  Falkirk have lost only one of the their last eight while Motherwell enjoy an unbeaten run of six.  Both sides are in the top half of the table with the ‘Well holding a two point advantage over The Bairns.

Falkirk were worth their point at Ibrox on Sunday.  John McGlynn had his players well schooled and Scott Bain had hardly a save to make. Indeed, after ex-Motherwell youth Alfie Agyeman replaced Brian Graham on the hour they could have snatched a memorable win.

Their progress up the divisions has been remarkable and that rise has continued into the Premiership.  They have won five and drawn five of their fourteen league fixtures and one of those triumphs came at Motherwell’s expense when they took the points at Fir Park in October.

Jens Berthel Askou has made good use of his squad in the last few games.  Four or five changes to the starting line-up in the last couple of outings indicate not only the options at his disposal but also the confidence he has in his players.

The seamless integration of Oscar Priestman into the side last week shows that the training ground routines have succeeded in embedding the manager’s philosophy.  Even the change in shape that proved to be the undoing of Hibs did not alter the fundamental passing style that is the basis of this new regime.

We can expect the team to persist with the familiar pattern for this first visit to the Falkirk stadium. Chris Graham will be in charge on the artificial surface as this meeting of third v sixth gets underway.

It’s time to balance the scales, a 1-0 away win will keep the travelling fans happy.
