Once, Twice, Three Times The Jambos

It all started many months ago at Fir Park. Hearts visited Fir Park knowing a win would put them top. It was a scrappy game and there was not much between the teams. Kevin McBride was a relatively new signing from Celtic and he had shown against Morton that he could take penalties. When Phil O’Donnell was fouled in the box, McBride was the man who stepped up and he thumped the ball past Gordon. Hearts had a goal disallowed for offside but then we ended the game with a magnificent goal. The ball wasn’t properly cleared from a corner and when it dropped from a great height, it was met by the boot of Phil O’Donnell. His left foot volley was a wonderful piece of skill and his shot flew into the top corner.

The Tarts where they belong :-)

The second win was all the sweeter since it was at Tynecastle. It is not unfair to say we have an appalling record there and victories are to be cherished. Hearts had more of the ball but did very little with it. A glorious pass from Clarkson released Corrigan into the box and he was bundled over by the last man. A red card was duly produced and whilst the penalty taker was now Foran, the outcome was the same. Hearts had quite a bit of the possession but a few half hearted penalty claims apart, they didn’t threaten. Chalk number two.

And finally we have Tuesday’s offering. It is worth noting the similarity to the Tynecastle match when we sat back and let them play in front of us. It was us who created the better chances and man for man, our players played better than theirs. This may not last very long but right now it is worth savouring. Can we make it four in a row?

We’ll find out on February 19th!
