Partick Thistle Preview

The three visits Thistle have made to Fir Park since they regained SPL status have all resulted in score draws. But the pools punter who chooses that option is unlikely to win the jackpot on Saturday.

Motherwell, despite fielding a team supposedly weakened by injury, will be confident that the spell of good form can continue. With the return of Steven Craig there is now competition for places in the attacking half of the team. Burns, Clarkson, and McDonald have all been playing well and it seems likely that they will all have a spell of activity at the weekend.

Stephen Craigan wore the captain’s arm band against Aberdeen and his commanding performance (alongside the trusty Kaiser) suggested that he relished the honour. There is no news as yet about the muscle stain suffered by Derek Adams.

A mention has to be made of the goal scorers earlier in the week. The two eighteen year olds each scored a debut goal to win six points for the team. Great stuff. Quinn will be assured of his place but Kenny Wright may have to settle for another start on the bench.

Thistle have lost six of their last seven league games and are surely doomed. They are stuck on the bottom and eleven points behind the struggling Dons. No doubt they will continue to moan and whine about the unfairness heaped upon them by the whole world until and beyond the day they are relegated.

Both Ladbrokes and Hills have us at 4/6 favourites. The bookies are rarely wrong – 2-0 to the Mighty ‘Well.
