Preview: Dundee (h) Scottish Cup R5

The weather forecast is grim for the next couple of days with a variety of problems having to be overcome if we are to face Dundee. Should we take to the field the state of the pitch will no doubt be terrible and that will do nothing for our passing game. We will need to battle through, much as we did against Hearts.

We do have a change at left back with Hammell probably replacing the departed Paterson while we have an issue at right back as Quinn is suspended. Lappin could play there but on his bad side or McLean could come in and play slightly out of position. Craigan and Reynolds will be in the centre.

The midfield and forward line are likely to remain the same as usual with Porter being fit after a knee problem.

Dundee are doing well in the First Division and despite a slip last time at home to Queen of the South they will be a tough team to break down. We have found this type of match very hard in the past and our record at home against lower league sides has not been wonderful. Antoine-Curier signed on loan for Hibs on deadline day but will be cup-tied for this contest.

This has the potential to be a very difficult match but if you want to progress in the cup this is the type of game that must be won. If we can get through this contest there is a decent chance of winnable quarter final ahead but we cannot take our eyes off the first issue and that is beating Dundee. It won't be pretty but we might scrape by with a 1-0 victory.
