Preview: St Mirren (a) CIS cup

The few days between the matches will have been filled with plotting and scheming as both managers mull over the 3-3 game looking for the key to victory in the cup tie. A repeat of our disappointing showing in the first half must be avoided and it might be that a different line up would help.

Humphrey's pace added much to our attack on Saturday and room might be found for him and O'Brien in the opening eleven. Hammell was badly missed and we can only hope that his tight hamstring recovers sufficiently to allow him to start.

Give racism the red card

Gus McPherson was not happy that his team was unable to hold on to a two goal lead but he'll be keen to get the same workrate from his players. Much of their success came from the tight pressing game they played when we had possession. They stopped us getting into our normal rhythm.

Our last two games in the CIS cup needed extra time to produce a winner. This campaign has seen us struggling to beat Inverness (3-2 aet) and last season we were embarrassed by Hamilton (1-2 aet). It might be that we'll have to go the distance again but we might sneak it after a goal apiece in ninety minutes.
