Terry took over control of football matters on the departure of Eric Black when the club entered administration back in April 2002. Despite all the turmoil at Fir Park following the arrival of Bryan Jackson and his team, we had a hugely successful season in 2003/4. Much of the credit has to go to the manager and his backroom team. His infectious enthusiasm for the game, players and the club has endeared him to the fans.

In the Times he said, "To be honest I had forgotten the end of my contract was so close. But we have a long-term plan here and we are only a little bit down the road of what we would like to do."

Now that he has returned from his stint at Euro 2004 in Portugal where he was a pundit for the BBC, he is now able to concentrate on the preparations for our new season.

Assuming the paperwork is completed soon, fans should have an opportunity to congratulate him in person at the club's Open Day on Sunday 25 July. He was a popular attraction at least year's event as he posed for pictures and signed autographs.
