Prediction v Thistle(h)

The only snippet about the game down south that I saw was the fact that TB managed to get himself sent from the dug-out by the referee. I conclude therefore that there must have been some dodgy decisions and that if they had gone the other way we would have had a fair chance of getting something from the game. Also nice to see that we came back from 3-0 down to almost snatch something. Would we have pulled back 2 goals last season or would we have capitulated to an even heavier defeat? Nuff said!

So we certainly seem to have some passion and fighting spirit both on and off the pitch. Lets hope we can retain that spirit throughout the season.

So to Thistle and the first home game of the season. I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Partick mainly due to the fact that they featured in the first ever Motherwell game I saw in the early 70's. I think it was a cup game and I remember that we had someone sent off in about the 1st minute or so. I think he was a midfielder called Sam Goodwin, a grey haired bloke who looked more like an insurance salesman than a Motherwell foootballer. Anyway we always seemed to have a fairly good record against them which made their visits to Fir Park quite enjoyable.

Thistle will probably be a bit disappointed with only taking a point from Dundee Utd at the week-end and will be determined to come away from Fir Park with at least a point. Terry will have given our back four a roasting for conceding 3 goals against Livi so they will not be complacent going out to face Thistle. Its still very early to make any informed judgement as to which sides are going to struggle this season but Thistle must be one of the main contenders for the drop. Lets hope we start to help them on their way back to the First Division. I don’t envisage many goals on Saturday so lets go for a single goal victory.

Motherwell 1 - 0 Patrick Thistle
