'Well Fail to Compete at Livi

Stevie Hammell failed a morning fitness test and Gary Bollan started in the left back position. The bucket collectors for the Livi for Life campaign had hardly had time to take their seats before McAllister opened the scoring with a well placed shot from twenty yards. The ball flew into the top corner of Marshall's goal and the home team had their tails up.

Adams srores with the rebound

We kept our cool and had a decent spell of possession. The ball was passed around competently though the threats to the Livi goal were few and far between. Toastie produced a good turn at the edge of the box and forced a punching save. O'Donnell had a header narrowly passed the post.

But the signs were not good. Anytime we were slack in midfield Livi pounced and pounded our box. The second goal came on the half hour when Lilley got on the end of a pass on the edge of the box.

There then followed a crazy defensive spell when we could have lost three in ten minutes. Marshall pulled of heroics, one save at feet, one save with an outstretched hand and on the third occasion we escaped with a mishit.

Just before the half time whistle Fernandez made it three nil. Again we gave the ball away in midfield and the strikers pace and direct running into the box and around the keeper gave him an easy tap in.

O'Donnell was replaced with McDonald at the start of the second period and the team was shuffled. Burns dropped into midfield and Quinn and Corrigan swapped positions.

We had much more of the ball in this spell though again we hardly troubled their keeper. Adams beat two inside the box and tried a lob, Clarkson came close from a couple of yards out and Lasley blasted high after gathering a nice pass from Dair.

Kenny Wright replaced Bollen and we switched to three at the back for the last twenty minutes. But the goals never looked at arriving.

As the fourth official was setting up the display at the end of the game we were awarded a penalty. Rubio has been using his arms illegally on Wright. Adams hit the keeper with the spot kick and was able to bundle the rebound into the net.

The away fans trudged out disappointed at the performance but we have a good run of games on the way at Fir Park. A few points will see us climbing the table again.
