Hamilton and Quinn joined the starting eleven while Foran found a place on the bench. Corrigan (complete with cast) and Kerr joined the team for the warm up.

Paterson has a first half chance

We dominated the first half and should have been ahead at the break. Indeed, we should have taken the lead inside the first minute when McDonald and McBride combined from the six yard line to see three shots blocked.

The Dundee penalty box saw most of the action but we had to wait and wait for the opener. Hamilton had a couple of half chances, McBride had an excellent attempt following a good one-two and his steered shot was touched past the post by Soutar.

O’Donnell almost strolled the ball into the net but failed to navigate his way around the keeper. Dundee almost scored when McManus lobbed Marshall but he was off target.

McDonald scored with less than five minutes of the half remaining. He collected a through ball close to the middle of the eighteen yard line and slipped it into the corner.

The fourth official had shown the board for added time when Lovell scored the equaliser. Our inability to punish the opposition when chances presented themselves was to cost and we fell behind five minutes into the second half.

Again it was Lovell who scored. His initial attempt was blocked but despite the attentions of Marshall and Quinn the grounded striker was able poke the ball into the net.

We continued our onslaught and both Hamilton and McDonald came close with shots and headers. With twenty minutes remaining Foran replaced Paterson.

The balance of the game was became clear when Dundee were awarded their first corner with only fifteen minutes remaining. Clarkson came on for Hamilton inside the last five minutes as we battled to take a point but to no avail.

The most frustrating aspect of the game was that we played well. Lots of passing movements and plenty of effort bore no fruit. Maybe we’ll get the rub of the green against Hibs on Tuesday!
