'Well go Loco in Inverurie cruise

After several failed attempts Motherwell and Inverurie finally got down to business in front of a hardy crowd who braved the elements to watch the game. The hosts would have wanted to keep things tight but when a free kick from O'Brien was headed in by Sutton after only a minute we were on our way.

Anyone for summer football?
Inverurie battled hard and did make a couple of slight chances but in general we were in control and we missed a hatful of opportunities to effectively kill the tie before half time. Both Clarkson and Sutton could have scored and Mark McGhee may have been slightly concerned at only holding a one goal lead at the break.

We endured a bit of pressure immediately after the interval but the crucial second goal arrived soon enough when Clarkson headed home from close range having been left in acres of space. Moments later Sutton finished off a nice move to make it 3-0 and from that point it was a matter of how many we would score.

Rather than really pushing on we were content to keep possession instead of going all out for more goals but few will complain about that and the only cause for concern was stupid bookings collected by Klimpl and Lasley.

We now face St Mirren in the next round on Saturday at Fir Park and with the Buddies also on a good run of form, this will be a stern test for us on the road to Hampden.
