Wonderful 'Well Wallop Hibs 4-2

At the end of an astonishing first half we were 3-1 up. We matched Hibs from the very beginning but it our slack play cost us when they opened the scoring on the break. No one matched Donaldson as he ran and ran before beating Smith and we were up against it. But this Motherwell side doesn't fold as easily as it once did we soon fought back in powerful fashion. Clarkson was left unmarked to head home a corner and when Lasley swept home a cross on the volley the game was turned upside down.

If things seemed good then they could have become even better when Porter tapped home only to be falsely ruled out for offside when he was behind the ball. However good things come to those who wait and when McCormack chipped Makalamby with a sensational lob the players and fans were beside each other with glee. This was first half performance of the utmost quality and we were taking our chances as well.

As expected Hibs put pressure on us in the second half but while they had chances they couldn't find a way through. All too often we managed to put pressure on them as they were about to shoot and their efforts hit the side netting.

We were still dangerous on the break though and looked to have ended any debate about the outcome when Porter knocked home from McCormack's set up with less than ten minutes to go. We didn't quite hold on with no problems as Antoine-Courier headed home from point blank range. There were few real scares though and we go into the quarter final draw tomorrow feeling confident about taking on anyone.
