Wonderfull 'Well Move to Second

Our intention to take control of the game was evident right from kick off and we had secured the first corner in around ten seconds. Clarkson had the first opportunity with a shot from twenty yards but McKenzie tipped it over the bar.

McBride got us off the mark after ten minutes from the right hand side of the box after excellent work from Foran at the left corner flag. His persistence won the ball and Clarkson got a head to his cross. It fell to Kevin who rattled home.

Phil was struggling
Foran then hit the bar and we were in complete charge of the game. Livi were not seen as an attacking force until the half hour. An injury to Phil O’Donnell forced a substitution and Shaun Fagan came off the bench.

There then followed a remarkable closing ten minutes to the half. Craigan lost his footing deep inside the box and O’Brian pounced. And then, with seconds remaining, Craigan, under pressure, passed the ball a distance of a couple of yards to Marshall on the dead ball line. He was pressured and robbed by Lovell and the ball was chipped to Hamilton who headed home. Both defenders had time to concede a corner but they kept the ball in play. Unbelievably we were down at the interval.

There was much shaking of heads in the large traveling support as we tried to come to terms with the change of fortune. It’s hard to imagine what the atmosphere was like in the dressing room.

A second half attack

To the team’s huge credit they started the second half in exactly the right way. And the equalizer was not far away. Skippy pinged an accurate shot into the keeper’s right hand corner. This time we kept the momentum going and Foran rattled in the winner with around twenty minutes remaining.

The Livi hoodoo is banished and we move to second place in the table.

Wonderful ‘Well!
