However, this confidence was clearly misplaced and in a dire first half, the only real incident was a Rovers' goal. A breakaway led to a low ball from the right hand side being bundled into the net by an onrushing attacker after a wicked deflection. Both Graeme Farmer in the FPC goal and captain Gavin Hepworth could have done better to prevent their side going a goal down.

The second period was a clear improvement for the home side, with half-time substitute Darryn Alexander rattling the base of the post in the opening minute of the half. The same man, again by far FPC' man of the match, came close with a freekick.

Rovers were clearly setting their stall out, playing a deep defensive line with ten men behind the ball and chances were hard to come by for the Corner. The only other real action of the match was a stonewall penalty being denied for a handball and then a clear push on Ross Clark inside the box. However, the incident just served to sum up the day for the home side and David Fraser will be left to pick up the pieces for the next game.
