Motherwell produced
another fine display at Parkhead yet came away without reward.
The short journey back
to Fir Park was without league points but there were plenty of reminders of the
hard fought contest. There were cuts and
bruises aplenty especially on the slender frame of Eli Just.
The payment for his teasing of the Celtic midfielders was brutal. In the words of his manager, “He's very, very sore. He looks swollen down the leg. It doesn't look good.“ The game was stopped twice to allow the New Zealander on-field treatment.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
was booked early in the game for the first crunching tackle on the ‘Well
playmaker but an intervention from the remote officials did not happen.
Tawanda Maswanhise struggled
to get involved in the game. The supply
to him was poor and it might have been prudent to make his substitution earlier
than the 89th minute.
The penalty and
Emmanuel Longelo’s dismissal ended what until then had been an even match.
There was to be a
bonus for the followers of claret and amber as they trudged out of Celtic
Park. Livingston had held Hibs to a
goalless draw so our margin over fifth place was reduced by only a single
point.
If Motherwell can
produce a win against Hibs next week the gap will be stretched to a very comfortable
nine points with seven games remaining.
The well used phrase ‘a six pointer’ seems appropriate.
