Motherwell’s man
grabbed the headlines as he scored twice for New Zealand in the World Cup.
Eli Just topped a fine
performance with a couple of goals in the Los Angeles meeting with Iran. Defensive weakness cost the Kiwis and the
game finished 2-2.
It followed that he received wide exposure across all the media outlets as he topped the race for the Golden Boot in the early stages of the competition. Here is a flavour: “a performance full of creativity”- BBC, “I thought Eli was outstanding” – New Zealand manager, “a smart attacker who thrives in tight spaces” – the Guardian, “the diminuitive Just…took his chances brilliantly” – the (NZ) Post.

Those compliments do
not come as a surprise to regulars at Fir Park.
His displays in claret and amber have thrilled as he played a big part
in Motherwell’s outstanding season.
There are many who suggest that his time as a Steelman may be limited as
those with big pockets look to hire his services. They will have to dig deep as his commitment to
Motherwell runs to 2027 with a further year on option.
His team-mates will be
returning to begin their pre-season build up later this week but Eli will
remain with his All White colleagues for games against Egypt and Belgium.
Congratulations Eli
