Elliot Watt leaves Fir Park

Motherwell have confirmed that Elliot Watt has been transferred to Samsunspor.

The recent whispers have now become a reality and the midfielder is on his way to Turkey.  He is quoted on the club website, “The support and positivity I felt from the first minute arrived gave me the confidence to learn, improve and perform.”

Although the fee is “undisclosed” it is widely assumed to be more than £1M.

He joined in July 2025 at the end of a contract with Burton Albion that finished with a short loan spell at St Johnstone.  His forty two appearances in claret and amber delivered half a dozen goals.

Watt was a key figure in Jens Berthel Askou’s wonderful team.   On signing the manager said,” He is a highly skilled passer of the ball, dictating the game in possession by always being brave and available. He covers ground well and possesses a strong positional discipline.”

The methodology employed by the Dane allowed the midfielder to flourish and he is now rated as a seven figure player.

Motherwell fans will regret seeing last season’s team being dismantled but the compensation received will bolster the club’s finances and probably give Alfred Johansson some extra leeway.

Thanks for a special year Elliot and all the best at Samsunspor.
