Motherwell’s
relentless run continued with a 2-0 home win over Aberdeen.
On a cold
and wet Sunday afternoon Motherwell shrugged off the weather to take the points
with another clean sheet. Aberdeen
looked weak in attack and unconvincing in defence as they collected half a
dozen yellow cards.
There were
two changes to the eleven that faced Rangers in midweek. Tom Sparrow and Oscar Priestman stood in for
the suspended Lukas Fadinger and for Stephen O’Donnell.
Motherwell started brightly in the heavy rain and Priestman tested the debut goalie Per Kristian Bratveit after five minutes. Callum Slattery was next to try his luck. The half chances that followed were those in front of the travelling support and they had an excellent view of the first goal just before the half hour.

Stephen
Welsh sent a powerful pass forward to Eli Just and from the left side of the
goal he smashed the ball into the net.
Callum Ward had little to do before the break.
An excellent
chance for a second goal was spurned by Ibrahim Said. Tawanda Maswanhise set up Just and the
squared pass afforded Said a tap in but he missed the gaping target.
The visitors
came close shortly after the break when Morrison's header flew wide from
close range. Aberdeen were offering
stiffer resistance as both teams turned to their benches.
In added
time Sam Nicholson got to the bye line and fired low across the goal into a
trio of players. The ball flew into the
net off of Tom McIntyre.
The teams meet
again on Wednesday in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. The thought in the minds of the ‘Well fans at
full time was ‘same again please’.
