Motherwell set for the Faroe Isles

Motherwell were paired with our old foes Havnar Botfelag in Wednesday’s Uefa Conference draw.

The reward for a superb league performance last season is a trip to the Faroe Islands for the second leg of the tie.  Kick-off times will be confirmed by 26 June for the 23 & 30 July matches.

Motherwell were unseeded and were grouped against Copenhagen, Helsinki, Mostar, Caernarfon and HB (the lowest seed in that group).  It is a favourable draw but it means another unseeded test in Q3 if we progress.

The draw for the next round takes place on 20 July, ahead of the Q2 matches.

The teams last met in the Uefa Cup in 1994 when, under the charge of Alex McLeish, goals from Stevie Kirk (3), Billy Davies, Alex Burns, Tommy Coyne and Paul McGrillen delivered a 7-1 aggregate win.  A loss to Dortmund followed.

HB are well into the current season and sit sixth in the ten team league.  Motherwell will have to make the best of pre-season training to compete.
