Motherwell
and Celtic meet for a high stakes clash on Wednesday evening as Fir Park hosts
its season finale.
This game offers
the chance of precious points to help secure the ambitions of both teams and
the prospect of another night of high drama will ensure a packed stadium.
Celtic come
with a run of six wins and a morale boosting triumph over their Glasgow rivals,
they will not be short of confidence. Daizen
Maeda and Benjamin Nygren will carry the
hopes of the visiting fans but they will not be alone in posing a threat to a
home defence that performed so well against Hearts on Saturday.

Motherwell
will take heart from the draw against the leaders but there is no avoiding the
recent shortage of points. One win from the last eight games is a poor return yet
the team continues to play well. The
commitment to Jens Berthel Askou’s style continues to deliver positive
entertainment yet the lack of a cutting edge remains.
Tawanda
Maswanhise has scored only once in those eight outings and the alarming
disappearance of January signing Eythor Bjorgolfsson means that Callum Hendry,
newly returned for a long injury spell, has been called from the bench to add
some attacking punch.
With
Stephen Welsh ineligible and captain Paul McGinn injured we can expect a
Stephen O’Donnell and Liam Gordon pairing at the centre of the Steelmen back
line. Lukas Fadinger should be back in
play possibly at the expense of Oscar Priestman.
Both sets
of fans will keep track of the games elsewhere hoping for favourable outcomes
but the action under the oversight of John Beaton will provide plenty of
excitement.
Motherwell
will hope Hibs falter at Ibrox to lift the mood after a 2-0 loss.
