Motherwell and Hearts meet at Fir Park on Saturday evening for what will
surely be a hard fought competitive contest.
As the season winds down to the last three rounds the pressure for
points rises. Hearts have their eyes on
a historic climax but that will not influence Motherwell’s approach as work
remains to ensure a place in the UEFA Conference League.
The Steelmen will feel they are due a win against the Gorgie side as
they look back to the season’s earlier meetings. At Tynecastle in August Motherwell ran rings
round the home side for an hour but the game ended level. A goalless draw followed at Fir Park in
November before the clash last month.
Hearts won that last game although the travelling fans left the ground
bewildered that their favourites were left without even a point.

Jens Berthel Askou seems to have settled on his best eleven and
selection has been relatively consistent recently. We can expect a familiar team for the 8pm
kick-off.
Hearts followed Motherwell on Monday by beating Rangers and effectively removed
them from the title race. The hype
surrounding that win seems to have overlooked the obstacle that Jens Berthel
Askou’s team will present.
The previous meeting produced the biggest crowd of the season at Fir
Park (10,939) and that figure could be overtaken on Saturday. Steven McLean will be in charge of the match.
The bookies seem to be reluctant to plump for a clear favourite and that
suggests a third stalemate may be likely, 2-2.
