Next up - Motherwell and Aberdeen at Fir Park

Motherwell and Aberdeen meet again on Saturday at Fir Park.  This time three points are up for grabs.

The Steelmen earned a place in the League Cup semi-final with their win at Pittodrie last Saturday but it is Premiership action that will be on show this weekend.

Thanks to the whim of the TV broadcaster this game will kick off at 5.45pm.  The Fir Park food outlets may benefit but many fans will not be happy that this twilight affair will disrupt their normal Saturday routine.

Motherwell have yet to record a win in league competition and they have had to settle for five frustrating draws.  Their performances have merited a better return but either defensive errors or poor finishing have dashed hopes.  Still, Regan Charles-Cook’s first goal for the club may be the much needed catalyst.

Apostolos Stamatelopoulos continues to lead the line but despite the many opportunities that have come his way he has yet to find the net.  Maybe a first on Saturday will open the gates?

Paul McGinn missed the game at Pittodrie but he may be back in the squad and with any luck Callum Hendry’s break may help him get back on the bench.

Aberdeen’s woes continued at Tannadice on Tuesday and they remain rooted to the foot of the table without a goal to their credit.  They will be second favourites on Saturday but as Jimmy Thelin’s jacket wavers on the proverbial shoogly nail Motherwell must take care not to be generous.

It’s time for the Mighty ‘Well to move up the table.  Another 1-0 win over the Dons will do nicely.
