As Alfred
Johansson takes his squad for a week long training camp in Denmark speculation
about the future of some key players grows.
Motherwell
fans enjoyed a hugely entertaining feast of football last season as the team
served up delights game after game. As
the campaign progressed it became clear that many of the players would become
targets for other clubs. Now that the
transfer window is open the wolves seem ready to pounce.
The signing
strategy employed by the club ensured that most of the key players remain still
contracted for a further year or two. In
that regard the assets are protected.

Callum
Slattery, Liam Gordon and Sam Nicholson opted not to renew and moved on to
Sheffield Wednesday, Gillingham and Livingston respectively. We wish them every success.
The rumour
mill has picked up pace as players returned after their break. Eli Just hit the headlines with his three
World Cup goals for New Zealand. The
wiry midfielder scored eight for Motherwell but his contribution to the team was
much more. Stories about interest from clubs
home and abroad appear daily. Just will
have much to ponder as he recovers from a long season.
Reports
suggest that
the Turkish club Samsunspor have made offers for Elliot Watt. It is no surprise that his calm possession
and clever distribution has raised his profile.
Tawanda Maswanhise
was not on Monday’s flight to the Vildbjerg Sports camp. The club reports that he is being assessed
for a facial injury. His goal scoring
exploits have not gone unnoticed and last month it was suggested
that Anderlecht were in touch regarding his availability.
The new
manager is aware that he is unlikely to start the new season without the loss
of one or two notables. Let’s hope that
he and Nick Daws have their eyes on a few replacements.
