Fans of Motherwell and St Mirren lost no time in snapping up tickets for the forthcoming Premier Sports Cup semi-final.
The game at Hampden on 1 November is seen by both sets of supporters as a realistic opportunity to reach the national final. Motherwell let it be known that more than two thousand tickets had been sold in the first two hours of sale.
For many it was an introduction to the Hampden app but most have been able to negotiate their way through to purchase. In any event the staff in the Fir Park ticketing office stand ready to assist. A detailed guide to buying semi-final tickets is on the ‘Well website here.
The squad now has a couple of weeks to refresh and recover from the tough four game series that followed the last international break. After a draw at Dens and away and home wins against Aberdeen they came very close to a success at Parkhead. And one again there was widespread recognition that the players are committed to the manager’s style. There is also acceptance that an occasional price will be paid for mistakes close to goal.
Before the trip to the national stadium there are three fixtures that offer a chance of progress up the table. First up is a first visit from newly promoted Falkirk. It has been fifteen years since the teams last met. Next is a trip to Livingston followed by a midweek meeting with Dundee United on the Wednesday before the semi-final. (St Mirren will face Hearts on that Wednesday.)
Let’s hope that we have a full and fit squad in a fortnight.
