The Well Society AGM at Fir Park drew a healthy crowd in-person and online on Monday night and the positive mood among attendees reflected a club moving in the right direction.
It was acknowledged by the Society board that the feel-good factor is largely provided by Jens Berthel Askou and his sensational team on the park but a deeper look gives cause for optimism as well.
The formal part of the night was conducted quickly with accounts showing the 1.2 million pound mark will soon be reached in the 'rainy day fund'. Events such as the Comedy Night and Live the Dream chance to play at Fir Park already raise money to be funnelled directly into the club and it was noted that there comes at a point when a decision needs to be made about the increasing contributions delivered by members each month.
It is considered that offering members the chance to decide how their cash is used, between increasing savings and investing for growth, will increase the appeal of the Society to the broader fan base and ensure both pillars are supported.

There will be an upcoming drive to recruit 140 more adult members before the club celebrates its 140th birthday on May 17 and further efforts made to increase the reach of the Society, close to home and further afield.
The board members took turns to cover the progress made in their respective fields before a question and answer session provided some specific information.
While officially a club matter, it was revealed there is hope of announcing news relating to the new training ground within “weeks”. There are plans to invest further in increased revenue streams around Fir Park, understandably on a gradual basis rather than coming all at once overnight.
One rumour which can be dismissed, however, is a takeover of the former Club 100 location beside Fir Park. Though it was given consideration, it is felt the cost and timing of other projects which have priority mean it is not an option to be advanced right now.
Those attending thanked the board members for their service, noting the change in attitude and approach of the Society since the summer of 2024. Particular gratitude and acknowledgement goes to Amber Johnstone, Phillip Speedie, and Sean Baillie who are standing down at the end of their terms – we wish them all the best on their return to the 'normal' section of the support!
