Aberdeen:24h On

Every good team goes through a spell when the sparkle fades and it speaks volumes for them that we secured ten points from our five league outings in February. The difficulties caused by our own pitch are well known and the frustrations caused by the poor weather don't help but there were times last night when we fell into the bad habits of the Malpas era.

McCormack was high and wide with this effort

The pitch in Aberdeen was far from the good surface Mark McGhee had anticipated and there were enough bad bobbles and bounces to induce nervousness in all twenty two players. Despite all that we were able to mount a sustained barrage on the Dons' goal for the last fifteen minutes and with luck we might even have stolen all three points.

The away bench was not long enough....

Graham Smith had a very fine second half and it he was correctly given the BBC Man of the Match nomination. He disappointed the crowd at the beach end time after time with a series fine stops. Mark Reynolds was another who impressed. He snuffed out much of the Aberdeen threat and was commanding in the air.

If the team can take something from Falkirk this weekend they will have a ten day gap before the game at Easter Road on March 12. The right combination of rest and training will, we hope, go some way to finding the missing spark.
