Well done David!
There was rarely any complaint from the fans when the goals dried up last season. On every occasion he would cover every inch of the park chasing lost causes, harrying the keeper and offering himself as an outlet by making forward runs. An apparent lack of belief at the final moment caused many missed opportunities. His tally in 2004/5 of four strikes has already been matched this season and he must have his eyes set on the dozen he bagged in 2003/4.

David celebrated his twentieth birthday a fortnight ago and it is a testament to his spectacular early development that he is treated by the fans as a mature member of the squad. He has well over a hundred first team appearances to his name and his repeated inclusion in Rainer Bonhof’s U21 squad is a clear indication that he is respected beyond the confines of Fir Park. We wish him well in the Friday’s match against Belarus (Broadwood Stadium, 7.30pm kick off, £5/£2).

Any point gained away from home in the SPL is regarded as a decent reward but there can be no surprise that Terry Butcher expressed disappointment after Saturday’s game. For the third time this season we have surrendered a two goal advantage and there can be little doubt that the notion of ‘shutting up shop’ will be the focus of one or two training sessions in the next fortnight.

The right back slot still cries out for the return of the Kaiser. In recent games Mclean has looked uncomfortable in that position and Quinn, who stood in for much of the vacancy, is still learning the role.

Brian Kerr is beginning to deliver some of the promise we expected from a quality player. He has benefited from an extended run of games and now looks sharp.

The mini break caused by the international weekend could result in the manager having to make some decisions as it is reported that a few of the walking wounded will be fit for duty.

Surely a visit by Luckless Livi is just what we need to ease them back into action!
