Motherwell fell foul to that most cruel of football afflictions, late goal syndrome. It's a fine thing when it works in your favour but at Pittodrie on Saturday we suffered the cruel loss in added time.

The team gave their all for the cause and almost came home with a valuable point but now they need to regroup and go again against St Johnston, this time (almost certainly) with a new manager.

At the time of writing Steve Robinson remains favourite. Had fans been offered three points from his two games (Kilmrnock and Aberdeen, both away) we would have accepted them with grateful thanks. He delivered just that to present the decision makers with a tough choice.

We'll know in a day or two what the board has decided. Regardless, some fans will be happy and others will take another view. We need to accept that any amangerial appointment is a leap of faith, There are no guarantees. The club and Society boards will make a considered judgement on our behalf and they deserve our backing.

The appointee will be the tenth to hold the post since Eric Black was in charge as we entered administration. That's a pretty high rate of disposals. Let hope for the start of a long and successful relationship.
