Aberdeen Preview

But, we have not won in the league since the middle of February and are currently on a disastrous run which has seen us pick up a mere one point from twenty-seven. After the victory over Dunfermline on February 19, we were three points clear of Dundee United. Now, one more win for United will guarantee we finish bottom. However, we must take three points from Aberdeen on the off chance that the Arabs slip up.

Aberdeen have a couple of injury problems in the centre of their defence with Russel Anderson and Phil MacGuire missing. This means that Jamie McAllistair – who will leave Pittodrie at the end of the season – will have another chance to impress potential new clubs.

Aberdeen were in the thick of the relegation battle just after the turn of the year but a good run – typically started with a 1-0 win at Fir Park – ensured they pulled away. They have now won five out of their last seven games and Steve Patterson appears to turning them into a decent side.

On the other hand, things are looking bleak for us. There is absolutely nothing to suggest we will win this vital game. Our defence still leaks like a sieve and we continue to spurn chances in front of the opposition goal.

We have nearly a full squad available for the last time this season with both Adams and Lehmann being available before missing the Livvy game with suspension. Of course, whether Terry will play Dirk – who is leaving – or not remains to be seen. Also on his way out is Tony Vaughan and few ‘Well fans will be disappointed if this particular liability is left out the side.

We know that McFadden and Pearson have talent but now is the time they need to show it. The both played well at the Hampden semi final and this match is on a par with that one.

We probably won’t lose a match like this but we will only manage an edgy 1-1. Dundee United will get the same draw at Firhill and it will be time to hit the pub.
