Despite the defeat, little damage was done to our league ambitions. Results elsewhere were kind. Falkirk threw away a two goal lead at Inverness and Dundee United lost in Aberdeen.

John Hughes was not impressed at seeing his charges throw away a two goal lead. “It's the inconsistency that blows my brains”, he said in a post match interview. Falkirk are our next target in the climb up the table and they remain a point ahead.

The doom and gloom merchants in the Motherwell support should have a look at the state of Dundee United. This season they have one SPL win to their credit and St Johnstone knocked them out of the CIS Cup. They have had two league wins in the last twenty seven outings! (Yes, 2 from 27). That makes Malpas' record look impressive.

While others moan about a lack of consistency, we have to be pleased at the steadiness in form which has been evident in our recent showings. It looks like the same eleven will take to the field in Govan next week. Would it be too greedy to hope for a stumble from the home team?
