Celtic: 24h On

Those who have visited Parkhead on a regular basis since Twaddle's rocket hit home in 1999 know the all too familiar feeling of trudging away from that ground having seen us work hard and lose. To see a victory in a league fixture which was vital to the hopes of both teams was payback for perseverance.

We got the reward by taking the one clear goal scoring chance and managed to keep them out as they piled on the pressure.

Who knows what might have happened had Malcolm remained on the pitch? We looked comfortable at the start of the second half and managed a couple of attacks in the five minutes when we had eleven on the pitch. After the dismissal there was no doubt that the traffic would all be towards Smith.

Mark McGhee acknowledged after the game that we were fortunate to take all three points. They hit the woodwork twice and at times had our defenders spinning but the match stats suggest that they only produced four shots on target.

The win will put a shine on the planned week in Malaga. Some sun, golf and flat training surfaces should set them up nicely for the second of the Celtic back to back games. Can we do the double?
