Although the news broke from the north east early on Wednesday, Fir Park were unable to confirm the details unitil later that evening.

Happy fans at Hampden

The game takes place on Tuesday 9 November at 7.45pm. Fir Park has announced that the gate entry price will be £15 for all stands and that season tickets will not be valid. There can be little doubt that the broadcasting of the game will be of special interest to many Dons fans who may choose to avoid the midweek journey.

The size of the crowd will undoubtedly be reduced by this development and it is to be hoped that the clubs will give further consideration to the gate price in view of the cash bonus they will get from the broadcast fee.

The Old Firm quarter final takes place on the Wednesday of that week and the BBC will also show that game live.

Aberdeen
are quoted in the Press & Journal saying, “It's great news for our supporters. We will have a great support at Fir Park to cheer on the team for the big game, but the news means the Dons fans who can't get a ticket for the game will be able to watch the match on the television.”
