Could It Be Magic?

We’ve already earned a few curses down Gorgie this year. Okay, the 0-0 draw on Saturday was the game that officially ended their European hopes but Hearts will look back at the previous three league games – two 2-0’s and a 1-0 defeat – and wonder what difference those points would have made to their season. There’s also the minor issue of the League Cup semi final to mention!

Hearts have been in our pocket this year
But that’s all in the past now. Next up for the Mighty ‘Well are Hibs at Fir Park. The Hibees have had a great season and have finally shaken off their tags as bottlers. They did make a mess of the Scottish Cup semi final but bounced back with wonderful wins at Tynecastle and Parkhead. They can make third spot 99% certain to be theirs with a win on Saturday and around 6000 fans will back them this weekend. However, it would be typical Hibs to blow it in front of a big crowd against a team that has nothing to play for. We’ve only taken one point from Hibs this year but in the two games we lost we should really have taken a point or more. Some revenge will be sweet!

It’s the next weekend that things get really interesting though. Rangers have come back from the dead in terms of the title and have, on paper, an easier run in. However, when we play them on March 14 a loss could be fatal to their hopes, assuming Celtic have won against Aberdeen the previous week. We have not won at Ibrox in a long, long time and if you saw the Rangers-Dundee United highlights, it is obvious that they are capable of an off day. Could we do it? It’s doubtful but oh how good it would be…

But, possibly the best scenario of all, could be denying Celtic the title at Fir Park. The thought of them celebrating on our ground is abhorrent; even if we have little choice than to let them should they win the league. So the best thing we can do is stuff them. The chances of this are slim but nerves will be high and if we get the first goal, things could become very interesting indeed. We would need to rely on Rangers winning at Easter Road to deny the hordes in our away end celebrating but it’s definitely possible.

So, we have the potential to severely annoy three other teams. It’s petty, it’s childish, but wouldn’t you just love it?!?!
