Cup draw brings good news

Stranraer were first out the bag and were quickly followed by our good selves. Roars of delighted ‘Well fans erupted all over Lanarkshire and we can start to look forward to our first Quarter in a few years.

Another cup run without FP being used
In fairness, Stranraer will also be happy with the draw. They will be pleased to be at Stair Park and they will fancy their chances of causing a cup upset.

It has been a long time since we met Stranraer – we last played them in the League in the old Second Division in season 68/9. We won 3-0 at Fir Park and 2-0 at Stair Park on the way to winning the title. We last met in the cup in 1962 when we won 3-1 at Stair Park on our way to the Semi Finals. The only other cup meeting was in 1949 in the First round: Motherwell 3-0 Stranraer.

So, we have a good away day to a ground we haven’t been at in ages and a great chance to make it to the semi finals for the first time in twelve years. It’s been a good day!
