Danny Murphy Available from January 1

He has a two and a half year contract (subject to a medical) and Manager Malpas is quoted on the official site saying, "We have been able to sort things out in the last two or three days since the Irish season finished. The signing will allow us to move one or two about, Jim Paterson will be able to move forward again and we may be able to use Richie Foran up front."

Murphy was highly rated by the Cork fans. He isn't the biggest defender you'll ever see which could cause some problems in the SPL but he is a recognised left back and that must surely be an upgrade on Stepover, no matter how valiant his efforts.

Danny has been on the books at West Ham and QPR but the Londoner made his biggest impact with Cork. He was influential in their 2004 Inter Toto run and won a league championship medal in 2005. He is only 24 and will have the best years of his career ahead of him. On paper, he looks a great signing.
