In the final hour of the winter transfer window Motherwell secured the services of Conor Grant from Everton, Mathan Thomas from Plymouth and Marvin Johnson from Kiddiminster

Marvin Johnson joined Motherwell as the transfer deadline's final minutes drained away.  "He is extremely hungry and will be out to show everyone just exactly what he can do. He is what we need in that he is dynamic, extremely quick and can both create and score goals", said the manager.  The 24 year old winger has scored 10 goals aready this season.

Conor Grant: The 19 year old comes from Everton's development squad and comes with a glowing reference from Joe Royle.  On the MFC site the manager said, “He can play in a number of midfield positions and has great energy, exactly what we require for the last few months of the campaign.”

Nathan Thomas is a 20 year old winger who was released by Plymouth Argyle.

George Long: The 21 year old Yorkshire man has been in a few English U21 squads and he’ll provide tough competition for Dan Twardzik.  The 6 ft 4 in goalkeeper from Sheffield United said on the official MFC site, “I’m really looking forward to it and it’s a new challenge for me to play in Scotland. It will be great to get back playing and hopefully help push the team up the table. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the club and the manager so I can’t wait to get started.”

Anthony Straker joined us on loan from York City in time to make his debut in the 1-1 draw with St Johnstone on the last day of January.  The 26 year old left footer can play in defence of midfield.  He has represented England at U18 level but since 2011 he has won 8 caps for Grenada.  Given the long term injuries to Hammell and Francis-Angol he’s a welcome addition in the left flank.

Louis Laing first trained with his new team-mates on Thursday 20 January and found himself in the centre our our defence two days later.  The 21 year old is on loan from Nottingham Forest until May.  Ian Baraclough beamed as he talked of the “coup” for the club in capturing the 21 year old. “He is full of energy, has got pace and a lot of experience being involved in promotion winning teams down south as well as playing international football.”  His debut lasted all of 25 minutes before a he was sent off – things can only get better!

Stephen Pearson was the first of Baraclogh's signings.  Almost eleven years to the day after leaving Motherwell, he joined the ranks of returnees to Fir Park. We have him for the rest of the season.

Henrik Ojamaa, who declined the offer of a deal at Motherwell has joined Norwegian club Sarpsborg 08.
