Dundee: 24h on - doom and gloom

Last updated : 11 January 2015 By Firparkcorner

Even in defeat the players normally hear supportive comments from the team manager, not on this occasion.  Ian Baraclough, now six games into his rein at Fir Park, made his displeasure clear when to spoke to MFCTV.  "Players are coming out of contract.  Players are telling me they want to play at this football club where they get looked after very well and they've got to showcase themselves.

They've got to show the desire and talent to have a manager pick them and that's not there at the moment."

He excepted the younger players from criticism and praised Thomas for the effort he gave during his hour on the pitch but he added that "we need a freshness, a change of mindset".

A combination of bad luck, defensive mistakes and ill-discipline was no match for a Dundee side that had not taken three points in the previous three months.  The game was over as a contest before half time.

With a tight budget and an injury hit squad the manager's options are limited.  Even if he succeeds in adding the desired freshness to the ranks he'll have to rely the players who got us into this situation to change our fortunes.

Kilmarnock come to Fir Park next Saturday ahead of away fixtures at Parkhead and Tannadice.  The need to end the losing run is all too obvious.  The character of the players will be tested but the next home game will also be a test for Motherwell fans.

All teams respond to loud and positive support from their supporters and, despite our disappointment at this season's offering, this is a time to get behind those who wear claret and amber.
