Dundee Preview

Dougie could be back
Dundee are apparently suffering from a virus going around Dens Park but Terry Butcher would be well advised to ignore this propaganda. We have visited Dundee when they were on death’s door before and they fought like tigers to secure a 1-0 win. No one at Fir Park should believe Jim Duffy and we must be mentally prepared for a tough match.

Stephen Pearson and David Partridge are missing the final games in their bans while Cowan and Lasley are out with injury. Dougie Ramsay may be fit enough to be added into the squad. That said, we performed fairly well at Pittodrie and it would be harsh to change the side. Dundee do not have any massive strikers that require Daniel Sengewald be to recalled and we should be comfortable playing 4-4-2. Paul Quinn and William Kinniburgh both appear to be fairly solid and deserve an extended run.

One possible change could be in the midfield. If Kevin McDonald was to start then one of Ferguson, Lehmann and McFadden would have to make way but on reflection, that seems unlikely. The worry is that with Faddy playing in a free role, we are exposed in the middle of the park and Terry Butcher will need to keep an eye on this.

Dundee have a list of around nine players who wre in their sick beds earlier in the week and they will definitely be without the injured Georgi Nemsadze. Dundee are sitting seventh in the table just now but could leap as high as fourth with good weekend results. Their league position is based largely on their home form where they have won five out nine. Our record at Dens is fairly poor with just twenty wins out of nearly one hundred matches. Our last success was in 2000 when Stuart Elliott scored two headers in the opening five minutes.

It is crucial that we keep our good momentum going and even allowing for Dundee being ‘at it’ we should get a positive result.

Another 1-1 would be a good bet.
