Motherwell are enjoying the benefits which flow from a wee run of success. Four unbeaten games including three wins are enough to give confidence to any side. We needed a late wonder goal from Scott McDonald in our last outing to avoid defeat but there is no reason to forecast an end to the good spell.

On the assumption that the tweaked hamstring which caused Phil O’Donnell’s substitution at East End Park is on the mend, it will be safe to assume that the same starting eleven will line up on Saturday. The demotion of Toastie to the reserves and his visits with the second string to exotic Forfar and Dunfermline may encourage him in the belief that his future lies elsewhere.

Meanwhile the visitors also needed a late goal at the weekend to salvage a point. They played in front of an eleven thousand crowd when the hosted Aberdeen . Half of that number is a realistic estimate of the numbers likely in Motherwell this weekend. But it should be the ‘Well fans who leave smiling. 1-0.
